Exhausted by Reflection
◆
"The results of reflection are both dangerous and unforeseeable because one can never tell whether the decision which saves a man from evil is reached after thorough consideration, or whether it is simply the exhaustion resulting from reflection which prevents him from doing wrong.”

This strikes me as a commentary on the conservative half of Christianity, who, at times, can lack concrete ministries that care for the body and work for social justice. Prayer can serve as a replacement for engagement with the messy “politics” that surround injustice.
Or the intellectual, of course.
